River Adventures Camp

NSRWA members have the first opportunity to register prior to open registration, which begins February 7.

 

For boys and girls in Grades 6-8


The NSRWA has partnered with South Shore YMCA to offer summer fun and adventure on the river for kids. Activities include kayaking, safety skills, tidepool exploration, plant and critter identification, and leadership development.

River Camp has six one-week sessions. The cost is $350 per week.

Camp day begins at 9 am and ends at 4 pm at the South Shore YMCA Camp Gordon Clark located in Hanover. Groups consist of 8 students, on camp counselor and two instructors. The participants begin by learning the fundamentals of sea kayaking and practicing emergency procedures. Trips on the rivers include a launch at the Union Street Bridge, paddling with the tide to Couch's Beach and back. The upper reaches of the North River from Luddam's Ford in Hanover to the Crotch, where the headwaters of the North River meet arte also explored. River Adventures campers leave camp having learned essential paddling skills and gaining a better understanding of athe natural environment of our rivers and watershed.
