FISHING ADVISORY: It’s important to know that some of our fisheries are contaminated with mercury, PFAS and/or other concerning substances. The Massachusetts Department of Public Health maintains an online database with up-to-date advisories regarding fish consumption, sorted by location. We recommend you consult this valuable resource when planning a fishing excursion.

Features

Be sure to check out the informational kiosks along the 0.25-mile brick walkway, featuring “Hingham’s Evolving Waterfront,” and the local mackerel fishing industry. Known as the Harbor Boardwalk, this walkway was expanded in 2019 to its current terminus at the boat ramp parking area.

This land is within the region of the Massachusett (or Massachuseuk). To learn more about local Native American tribes, we encourage you to interact with their members. The Massachusett tribe at Ponkapoag and the Mattakeeset band of the Massachusett share information on their websites.

Trail Description

A brick walkway extends along the shoreline for 0.25 miles — from the parking area to the northern edge of the property.

Habitats and Wildlife

This property is located at a beautiful spot on Hingham Harbor. While the beach may be the primary focus of the park, there are also large grassy areas with mature shade trees (oak, hemlock), and also some sumac and cedar. Please do not feed the waterfowl.
