According to the Weymouth Historical Commission, Beals Park was Weymouth’s first public park. It is named for Elias S. Beals, a prominent North Weymouth resident. By the mid-1880’s the property — while privately owned — was used frequently by children for ball games, ice skating and sledding. In 1884, the North Weymouth Improvement Association was established, with Beals as its president. Beals acquired the land where the park now stands and gifted it to the town in 1888. The Weymouth Park Commission was established the following year, to oversee the property.

In addition, the lower section features a 0.14-mile flat gravel loop. Extend your walk on the Bicknell Square Loop, which forms a 0.5-mile triangle along Athens, Bridge, and Sea Streets.
