Habitats and Wildlife

This grassy park has some pine and oak trees around its perimeter. It is located within the watershed of the Old Swamp River, which originates in Rockland, and flows for a brief stretch through the median between the south-and northbound lanes of Route 3, passing into Hingham, then Weymouth. Just north of Libbey Industrial Parkway, it enters the South Cove of Whitman’s Pond. The Old Swamp River is a headwater to the Weymouth Back River, which flows for about 10 miles and empties into the Atlantic Ocean at Hingham Bay, downstream of the park, and just south of Grape Island and Slate Island.
