Hanover Branch Rail Trail in Rockland and Abington
Robert J. Nyman Rockland Senior Center
Tuesday, January 1, 2019
1:00 pm – 2:30 pm
Join the NSRWA for the 25th year of ringing in the New Year together by exploring our watershed. This year’s walk will follow the Hanover Branch Rail Trail in Rockland and Abington. The Rail Trail follows the former corridor of the Hanover Branch Line, built in the 1860s by E. Y. Perry, a Hanover businessman who produced tacks. The railroad originally ran between Hanover Four Corners and North Abington before becoming part of the Old Colony Line in 1887. The walk will cover 2.5 miles of mostly paved trails and take approximately 1 hour. Refreshments will be served after the walk. We will meet and park at the Robert J. Nyman Rockland Senior Center at 317 Plain Street.
Due to the size of this group, we ask that there be no dogs please.
This event is free and open to the public.
